Work In Progress Wednesday - November 12

This week I started my new WIPW project, a sumptuous surface embroidery
for my youngest daughter. The phoenix is designed by my oldest daughter.
I transferred the pattern to my 28 count linen on a window, . . .
. . . framed it in my new SuperFrame (17 x 17 inch or 43 x 43 cm). . .
. . . and started the outline of the phoenix. I stitched Portuguese stem stitch in 2 threads of stranded coral red floss.
Work In Progress Wednesday is a support group to encourage people to complete languishing projects, Works In Slow Progress or UFO’s.

    1. Thanks! Portuguese stem stitch follows a curve very well and is easy to get even. I've used it in all my sumptuous work.

  5. This will be an interesting new WIPW project for many to follow, including your daughters I guess! The Portuguese Stem stitch is a great outline stitch on SSE embroidery as it gives a bold line.
I hope you soon get used to your new frame.

  6. I like the look of this project, the frame that you are using looks a good one, can you make it different sizes?

    1. Thanks, Susan. The frame comes in different square sizes, but you can combine the parts to make a rectangle frame.

How do you like the frame you are using? I keep thinking about buying one to try out.

    1. So far I like the frame. It's big, so I let it rest on the edge of my table or a stand my DH made a few years ago for my quilting. I'm trying to persuade him to make me a better one!

I'm using a smaller size (11 x 11 inch) for my CQ for some time now. It works great for me. You can adjust the tension very easy. If I don't stitch, I keep the fabric in the frame and just loosen the tension. Putting the fabric in the frame is not easy at first, but if you know how it works, it works very well. There's also a smaller size (8 x 8 inch). And you can combine the parts of the different sizes to make a rectangle. Hope this helps.
